First… some of the happy (Art) campers who won awards for their artworks and the crowds of parents, teachers, and other family members who helped celebrate Youth Art Month 2024! Over 300 people showed up to experience the exhibit of 180 works selected by 18 Art Educators.

You can see it too (without the crowds) anytime, Tu-Fri, 10-4, or Sat-Sun, 1-4, from now through April 7!

Thanks to all of the sponsors who make this a free experience throughout the month for all the 148 Art students and their families.

A new exhibit featuring the sculpture & drawings of Kevin Firme has opened at MMAA! The lyrical quality of water plants that interweave lines, shapes, textures, & color are contrasted by the fluid linearity of forged steel & blown glass forms. The amazing results of Firme’s ability to bend steel rods is like drawing in space!

This must see exhibit of this Indiana-based artist will continue through April 28.

MMAA salutes Chicago Artist, Phyllis Bramson, on International Women’s Day! Her painting, “Animals in the Country...are you listening?, 70” × 60”, mixed media and collage on canvas, 2008, is currently on view at the Midwest Museum of American Art through September!

Voted one of the top 50 most important and influential artists working in Chicago by NewCity magazine, Bramson will be featured at Engage Projects in a two-person exhibit with David Legget in late March into April.

Mystery, visual riddles, & poetic puzzlements… the Collage Work of Bonnie Rock. Sixty-four works form the exhibit, INTIMATE WORLDS at MMAA, Tuesday-Friday,10-4; Saturday-Sunday, 1-4, through March 3!

Join in the MYSTERY that’s found in the collage

Join in the MYSTERY that’s found in the collage work of Bonnie Rock (1941-2022) at MMAA. Director & Curator, Brian Byrn, will discuss the life and art of the artist in the exhibit, INTIMATE WORLDS from the Bonnie Rock Legacy Collection on Thursday, February 15, at noon.

After traveling the world and living most of her adult life in California, Rock returned to Indiana to settle in the town of Plymouth in 2006. She created a large body of unique and sculptural collages none of which she ever offered for sale and hardly ever exhibited except in her home and studio in a 1909 building.

While generous and friendly, Bonnie Rock led a largely quiet and reclusive life. Her art came to light when she entered the 2010 Elkhart Juried Regional and never failed to have one or two pieces accepted by a changing roster of judges till 2022.

Now 64 works are preserved in the Bonnie Rock Legacy Collection at MMAA.
